Enrollment

The Melinda Webb School is committed to establishing the most appropriate educational placement for each student. Enrollment recommendations are made by an Enrollment Committee comprised of our teachers, speech language pathologists, and audiologists.

The Melinda Webb School maintains open enrollment throughout the school year. We base our school calendar off of Houston ISD’s academic calendar. Click here to see this year’s Melinda Webb School Calendar.

Criteria for Enrollment

  • Be between the ages of 18 months to 6 years old
  • Primary deficit must be hearing loss

Admission Procedure

The intake process for children with hearing loss begins with a speech and language evaluation by a professional who specializes in working with children with hearing loss. After speech therapy services have been established and your child has attended at least four consecutive sessions, a school representative will observe you and your child. This is followed by an audiology consultation, speech-language evaluation, a school representative giving you an overview of the school program, a classroom visit to assess possible placement, and a meeting with the lead teacher from the appropriate classroom to discuss your child enrolling in the Melinda Webb School.

TUITION & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Tuition

Quotes for tuition are given after parents complete a school tour. For families needing financial aid, tuition is offered on a sliding fee scale, based on gross annual income and how many family members live in the household.

The cost for the Melinda Webb School to educate each student is considerably greater than the cost of tuition. Texas Hearing Institute fundraises to fill the tuition financial gap for Melinda Webb School students with grants and gifts from generous donors to ensure every child who qualifies is able to attend, regardless of their family’s income level.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for families who qualify. To request it, families must provide information about their household income, which is evaluated to determine an appropriate tuition rate.
