Pediatric Audiology Services

The Audiology Clinic at Texas Hearing Institute diagnoses hearing loss with comprehensive hearing testing that utilizes the latest technology in a pleasant environment. Our pediatric audiologists with doctoral level degrees provide services to children from birth to 21 years old. They have extensive experience working with young and difficult-to-test children.

These services include:

  • Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention
  • Hearing Tests
  • Hearing Aids
  • Bone Conduction Solutions
  • Cochlear Implants
  • Remote Microphone Technology
  • Interpreting
  • Earmolds and Swim Plugs

The results of the testing will determine whether there is hearing loss, as well as the type and degree of hearing loss present. If there is hearing loss, it is important to know to what extent learning, communication, and social skills will be affected. Afterward, the pediatric audiologist will recommend a course of treatment that matches the families’ communication goals for their child. This may include the use of hearing aids. In some cases, a cochlear implant or osseointegrated system might be recommended, as well as referrals to other professionals who might help. Some of these include speech language pathologists, medical professionals, and early childhood interventionists.

Our ultimate goal is to help each child gain access to sound so they can learn to listen and speak. However, we also support families who choose other modes of communication.

Did Your Child Fail A Hearing Test?

My baby failed the newborn hearing screening. Where do I begin?

Don’t delay – now is the time to act.

If a doctor referred your baby for further testing, hearing loss may or may not be present. At Texas Hearing Institute, we administer diagnostic  testing that determines if there is hearing loss, and if there is, to what degree. If hearing loss is diagnosed, our team will provide you with the information you need to decide the next steps, and we will support you and your family along the way.

My baby/child was diagnosed with hearing loss.

At Texas Hearing Institute, we understand that you will have many questions after learning your child has hearing loss. Identifying it early and starting interventions are crucial to giving your child the opportunity to listen and speak. Our team cares about you and your family, and we are here to provide you with information and support throughout the entire process, because making choices about hearing aids, cochlear implants, and education can be overwhelming.

The vast majority of children with hearing loss can learn to listen and speak, and will be able to enjoy the same opportunities as their friends who hear. Peruse the testimonials of Texas Hearing Institute patients.
